Chicago, Illinois, February 2024— After a lot of hard-work, patience, and time, we would like to announce that the Marist High School Band will be marching in the 2025 National Vietnam Veterans Day Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii for their band tour next year! The Marist Band has always strived for excellence, and this amazing opportunity will be a great showcase for Marist High School and the Marist Band for their first trip to Hawaii!
For over 60 years, the Marist High School Band has been a staple in the Chicagoland community. Founded by Mr. Frank Manna in 1963, the Marist Band has truly lived up to its tradition of bringing “honor, glory, and fame” to Marist High School. The internationally famed band tours every year and has performed at various college bowl games, festivals, parades, events, and concert tours. Some notable performances have been The Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California, The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Chicago White Sox Opening Day, and performances at Disney World every four years. The band director is Mr. Andrew Creagh and is assisted by Mr. Patrick Keelan.
After the band’s successful performance at the 2023 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland, we feel that it is a wonderful time to seize this opportunity to continue to travel and perform in new places. In Hawaii, the band will be marching in the National Vietnam Veterans Day Parade, perform at the opening ceremony with other bands from all over the world, and perform on the deck of the U.S.S. Missouri in Pearl Harbor. The band will also be touring and traveling Honolulu and experiencing traditional Hawaiian cultural events throughout the week-long trip.
If you are an incoming freshmen or current Marist student, we would love for you to join the band to take part in this historic band tour! We also accept and teach students with no previous music experience. If you are interested in joining the Marist Band, please e-mail Mr. Andrew Creagh at creagh.andrew@marist.net for more information.
Thank you all so much for your dedication to the band program at Marist! We are so proud of our students and all that they do. We are sure that this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone involved, and we will surely bring honor, glory, and fame to Marist High School and the Marist Band!
