“I am very honored to be a National Merit Semi-Finalist. I am thankful for the teachers and staff who helped me reach this point; I could not have accomplished this without their guidance and commitment to teaching and to my growth. I hope to continue to make Marist proud!” said Philip.
At Marist, Owen Murphy (St. Barnabas) has been a member of the band and Tech Club.
On being named a Semi-Finalist, Owen said, “I was very surprised, and I’m honored to receive such a great opportunity.”
Approximately 1.5 million entrants are screened each year by the National Merit Scholarship Program after taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring.
