Marist High School announced that Tony Petrancosta ’94 will be the new head hockey coach.
Welcome Home
Tony was a hockey player at Marist during his time as a student. With years of coaching experience under his belt, Tony has coached hockey for all ages within the Chicago Bruins/Flames organization.
“Returning to Marist as the head hockey coach has been a goal of mine since I graduated. Life has taken me down some different paths but I am excited and honored to finally make it back to Marist,” said Tony.
As a senior at Marist, Tony served as captain of the hockey team. He was an integral part of the 1994 Kennedy Cup Championship team! His team also took 2nd place in the state championships that year. Tony was a recipient of the Marist Block M Award for Hockey his senior year. Along with hockey, Tony played golf at Marist. After graduating from Marist, Tony was the first ever hockey captain at Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He is looking forward to working with the team to help them be the best they can be, “not just on the ice but in life too.”
“I am also looking forward to giving them the opportunities and wonderful experiences I had here at Marist and passing on that passion to them,” said Tony.
The relationships he made at Marist are important to Tony. He feels they have shaped him into the person he is today. This makes sense, since he has brought on Marist teammate, Jeremiah Kimento ’97 as the Marist assistant hockey coach. Jeremiah was a D1 hockey goalie at the University of Notre Dame.
“My time at Marist, not just as a hockey player but also as a student had a great impact on who I am today. It taught me that in order to be successful, you have to be dedicated, disciplined, and willing to put in the work,” said Tony.
Tony is a USA Hockey Level 4 Certified Coach, Goalie Bronze Level Certified Coach, and Amateur Athletic Union Registered Coach.

We are incredibly excited to have Tony back home. Coach Petrancosta already has been in action practicing with the team. We look forward to an amazing 2023-2024 season.
