Marist High School is excited to join the National Catholic Schools Week celebration, an annual week of events that starts the last Sunday in January and runs for seven days, which in 2023 is January 29 – February 4. Starting with Mass on Monday, January 30, Marist will then provide a week of activities to show what our students are accomplishing and to celebrate the community focused on ensuring our students develop as people by bringing together faith, culture, and life. Monday, January 30 – All School Mass
The Marist community gathered on Monday morning to celebrate the beginning of Catholic Schools Week. Mr. Kevin Butler ’05 kicked mass off with a nice reflection on how catholic schools have impacted his life. Kevin, Meg Dunneback, and Fr. Tom Hurley ’85 encouraged students to appreciate and share their gifts with others and to pay it forward. Scroll down to see photos from the mass.

Tuesday, January 31 – Principal for the Day
Congratulations to Phaedra Hisson ’26 who was chosen as the Principal for the Day!
Phaedra was welcomed this morning by members of the Admin team: Mr. Joe Inzinga ’77, Mrs. Elaine Gaffney, Mrs. Latoya Hayes, Mrs. Meg Dunneback, Mrs. Beth O’Neill, and Mrs. Sarah Kolkmeyer.

Phaedra joined Mrs. Dunneback on a visit to St. Barnabas where Mrs. Dunneback was a part of panel on a variety of jobs and vocations.
The Principals collaborated on a very special episode of “Tiny Mic,” where they went around the school and asked students what they can do to give back during Catholic Schools Week.

On Tuesday night, the Marist boys basketball team traveled to Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, IL. There was a special guest in the audience in celebration of Catholic Schools Week, Cardinal Cupich!

Today is all about the faculty and staff! Marist would not be the great place it is without our teachers, administrators, coaches, and staff. We are greatly for all of their hard work every day! Marist celebrated the faculty and staff with a catered lunch and comfortable dress day. Student Council president Nolan Baudo ’23 and vice president Annie Shields ’23 also went around with a treat cart and hand written thank you notes for each faculty member. The theme of Marist’s celebration coincides with the national theme, which is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service,” and encompasses the core products and values that can be found at Marist and in Catholic schools across the country.
