Creating Space for Faith
Every school hopes to develop its faculty and staff, but at Marist the goal extends beyond professional development to help adults grow as Catholic educators in the Marist tradition. During the hectic schedule of a school year, faculty and staff members have the opportunity to participate in a variety of spiritual development events that provide community and spiritual growth.
The opportunity to stop and take time for faith and prayer, reminds us of our Marist mission to make Jesus Christ known and loved.
Some events offered for faculty & staff members:
- Adoration of the Eucharist
- Community Dinner & Prayer Nights
- Day long retreat
- Rosary Recitation
- Soup & Substance Lenten Prayer Meetings
- Taize Prayer
- Weekly Morning Mass
Additionally, Marist employees have the opportunity to participate in the Marist Brothers’ Evangelization Program, which offers retreats at the Marist Brothers Center at Esopus, NY. These gatherings allow employees from Marist schools across the country to meet and learn about the greater Marist mission and community.
Since November of 2014, faculty and staff members participated in a unique retreat event each year. Every employee was able to choose from a variety of activities including viewing and discussing segments from the Catholicism series, experiencing prayer through music, yoga, or pottery, visiting local shrines and churches, engaging in service opportunities, and more.
“As a Catholic community and in the tradition of the Marist Brothers, our daily work is enhanced by learning, participating, and celebrating our faith. It is a gift to share these experiences with an entire faculty not only committed to ‘Making Jesus Known and Loved’ to our students, but also committed to growing as spirit-filled members of the Marist family.”
