Join us as we celebrate our 6th annual Champagnat Day on Thursday, April 20. The 24-hour giving event commemorates the canonization of St. Marcellin Champagnat, the founder of the Marist Brothers, and celebrates those who live out the Marist mission — our students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and friends.
Our Giving Goal
Our goal this year is to raise $250,000 for the Marist Fund with the help of 1,200 donors so that we may continue to give students the advantage of an exceptional, Catholic education. Donors who give $50 or more will receive an embroidered Marist Chicago bucket hat, so you can wear your Marist pride wherever you go this summer.

Bucket List and More: Details on the Week’s Events
This year, Marist will hold Champagnat Day, our annual day of giving, on April 20, 2023. To augment our giving day, we will celebrate St. Marcellin Champagnat throughout the week. Below is a calendar listing the rundown of the week’s activities. We will have multiple opportunities at which faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the Marist community can participate.
Champagnat Day House Build – April 14 & 15 (16 as rain date)
In conjunction with Campus Ministry, the service project will be on Friday and Saturday April 14th & 15th, with the rain date of Sunday, April 16th. In the spirit of St. Marcellin and his brothers, who shared in the construction of their house, “Our Lady of the Hermitage,” we are asking our community to join us as we roll up our sleeves to help construct a home that will support hurricane victims through the Help Build Hope project. We will need volunteers both days.
Volunteers Needed – Be Part of Our House Build
In April 14th and 15th, our job will be to construct 1 house frame – the basic walls and infrastructure – in ONE weekend in the Marist parking lot. The structure will then be transported to TROUP COUNTY Habitat for Humanity in LaGrange, Georgia for Tornado Relief. They will coordinate the completion of the house. The home will then be dedicated and given to a family in need. We are looking for teams and volunteers to fill these roles:
- PREPARERS: Measure and cut lumber (Friday only).
- CREW LEADERS: Oversee work crews (Fridayat 6:30 and Saturday all Day).
- FIRST AID STATION: Be available if needed in our first aid area.
- FOODIES: Help plan, prepare, or distribute food.
- PROMOTERS: Get the word out with Marist Community:
- (ie. Faculty, Staff, Alumni, Students and their families.)
- CLEANERS: Help keep area neat and safe during and after event.
- FLOATERS: Help out with miscellaneous duties throughout event.

We will have “giving challenges” to support momentum throughout the day. The same platform will be used as last year. This website will share real-time updates. New this year is the option to give via Venmo. We also will have a service component for students during the day centered on our pillars.
Throughout the day, we will feature live stream coverage from the school with Pat McGann ’94 & Alyssa Bergamini ’10. The fun continues into the evening with The “Not So Late Night Show” with Fr. Tom Hurley ’85 and will feature Marist legends, students, faculty, and more. Additional details regarding challenges, Venmo, service projects, and more will be shared at a later date.
