The Marcellin Program aims to support each student as they learn, grow, and achieve academic success and college readiness, similarly to their peers. Admission to the program is based on the entrance exam and junior high performance. This program was inspired by the struggles of its namesake, St. Marcellin Champagnat, the founder of the Marist Brothers. Recognizing the diversity of learning styles amongst students, the Marcellin Program provides the necessary tools to help each student reach their full potential. The program offers a college-preparatory curriculum with eligibility determined by a student’s performance in junior high and an entrance exam.

Beyond the support of their teachers, students in the Marcellin Program also have the support of peer leaders. These senior students serve as aides in the classroom, providing academic support and encouragement. This peer-led approach fosters a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and understood.
Discovering the Path to Success
The Marcellin Program includes a summer component to help students transition to high school. This mandatory summer class is held before the freshman year. Although the Marcellin Program is a four-year curriculum, students may enroll in courses outside the program once they have achieved academic success. This flexibility allows students to explore different academic tracks and challenge themselves, fostering a love for lifelong learning.
A Success Story: Ismael Flores, 2023 Graduate
Ismael Flores, a graduate of 2023, shares his experience: “When I started at Marist, I was in the Marcellin program. With the support of my incredible teachers, I gained confidence in my abilities, grew as a person, and over my four years at Marist, I was able to challenge myself and took classes in different tracks. By my senior year, I was taking AP classes and graduated with a Chick Evans Scholarship.”
