On March 29, 2023, at the Spring Dinner Meeting of the Mathematics Teachers’ Association of Chicago and Vicinity (MTA) held at De La Salle Institute, Marist math teacher Marlene Micetich received a special recognition with support from many of her math department colleagues.
The Distinguished Life Service Award
Marlene Micetich was honored with the Distinguished Life Service Award by the MTA. The following accolades were made about Marlene on Marc h 29:
- Marlene extracts the essential elements of any topic and then synthesizes those various elements into a clear and accessible presentation.
- Marlene inspires her students to be the best versions of themselves.
- Marlene serves the students and community of Marist with distinction and dignity as a Catholic educator.
Marlene has devoted many years to the students at Marist High School and we are so grateful for her dedication.
In 2021, the MTA honored two other Marist math teachers. Jeff Nicholson ’81 received the Distinguished Life Service Award. Sean Maxwell was awarded a certificate recognizing him as a 2020-2021 All-Star. To read about these awards, click here.

About the Mathematics Teachers’ Association of Chicago and Vicinity (MTA)
Founded in 1967, the Mathematics Teachers’ Association is an organization that helps connect Math teachers in the Chicagoland area. It continues to be a place for math teachers to talk and exchange ideas for classes and department.
