MHS Media is the award-winning news website for Marist High School. Any students interested in contributing to the site are welcome to join the club and write about information of interest and consequence to our school community.

The 2023 – 2024 School Year
Journalism students received several top awards at the Scholastic Press Association awards at Northwestern’s Medill, including:
–Excellence in New Publication going to the MHS Media staff for the news website
–Excellence for News Story: Ethan Froylan for his coverage of “A Night of Honor, Glory and Fame”
–Superior for Editorial: Ethan Froylan for his editorial on gun control
–Excellence for Feature: Trinity Eadie for AI in Schools

The 2022 – 2023 School Year
The 2022 – 2023 school year started the share school news in a new way.
MHS Media became the Student News Site for Marist High School.
In 2023, MHS Media students attended the Scholastic Press Association of Chicago (SPAC) conference at the Medill Journalism School at Northwestern. Two of the students walked away with some awesome awards! Grace O’Malley ’26 won Superior Achievement in Sports News Story. Camille Jones ’23 won both Excellent Achievement in Overall Newspaper and Excellent Achievement in New Publication as the editor of MHS Media. Congratulations to the MHS Media team on a successful first year!

Marist Journalism Students Highlighted in 2022
As the Sentinel ended its 59-year run in May 2022, it did so with a host of accolades for our student writers. The American Scholastic Press Association awarded The Sentinel its 11th consecutive first place award for our division in its national newspaper competition for 2022.
The Sentinel also received the Most Outstanding Private School Newspaper Award for 2022. (This award was won in 2019 as well.)
